PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS

Below are some possible locations. You may also choose your own photoshoot location as long as it is deemed suitable

I have a list of locations still to scout, particularly in Upper Hutt, Wellington, and Porirua. I just don't get a lot of free weekends to do so! If you are happy to be my test subject for a location I feel confident about, I will waive your travel fee.

Lower Hutt

No travel fee applies

The Dell

  • Very unlikely to encounter other dogs or people
  • Traffic noise nearby may be stressful for noise sensitive dogs
  • On-lead only
  • Seasonal variety including flowers
  • Gets dark early - mid morning & afternoon work best

THE FIELD

  • May see other dogs & cyclists at a distance
  • Off leash area
  • Perfect for action
  • Gets dark early - mid morning & afternoon work best

The URBAN GARDEN

  • Will likely see children, other dogs, and possibly cyclists
  • On lead only
  • No action photos
  • Perfect for more interesting urban type photos using local architecture
  • Early morning or evening

The RIVER

  • Likely to encounter other dogs, people, and cyclists, although minimised by time of day and location choice
  • Off-leash area
  • Perfect for getting water shots but can also get some "forest" type shots too
  • The hour after sunrise & before sunset work best

The BEACH

  • Likely to encounter other dogs & people, and cyclists, although minimised by time of day and location choice
  • Off-leash area
  • Great variety of photos available with sand, stone, grass, and "forest" type areas. Perfect for area including water shots.
  • The hour after sunrise & before sunset work best

The Forest

  • May see dogs in the distance
  • On-lead area (sometimes ignored - may encounter these dogs but I will yell at them for you!)
  • Mostly suited for stills but can do some running shots
  • The hour after sunrise & before sunset work best

Upper Hutt

$20 travel fee applies

Multiple parks

  • There are several parks in Upper Hutt that work well
  • They range in popularity levels but you will probably encounter other dogs and people in all of them
  • They are all offleash
  • They all provide some seasonal variety including flowers
  • Early morning & late afternoon work best (and you're less likely to encounter people!)

Wellington

$25 travel fee applies

PARLIAMENT & the surrounding area

  • Best time of day is the hour after sunrise.
  • At this time it should be fairly quiet, but being it is a tourist attraction, there is a high chance we may encounter lots of people, noise, and other dogs. Best suited for confident dogs.
  • On lead at all times
  • I need to write ahead and get permission to use Parliament grounds, so at least two weeks notice is recommended if you are keen on a shoot here

The writer's Garden

  • A quiet park but you may encounter people & other dogs
  • On-lead area (sometimes ignored - may encounter these dogs but I will yell at them for you!)
  • Mostly suited for stills but can do some running shots
  • Lots of ducks
  • The hour after sunrise & before sunset work best

Porirua

$25 travel fee applies

ThE COAST

  • Popularity depends on the time of day & weather
  • On leash & off leash areas
  • Time of year dependent
  • The hour after sunrise and before sunset work best

Kapiti

$40 travel fee applies

Queen Elizabeth Park

  • One of my absolute favourite places to do a shoot
  • It can get busy on a sunny day but generally avoidable in the early morning, and what's great is if the beach is being overrun we can escape to the bushes for peace
  • Offleash
  • Perfect for sunset photos (depending on time of year)
  • The hour after sunrise & the hour before sunset work best

PRIVATE DOG PARKS

travel fee May apply

If you want to ensure a completely private experience, I am happy to join you at one of Wellington's private dog parks. I can suggest a few. You will need to organise & pay for the park booking.
